Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore - The Duomo
The city's most iconic landmark is the Florence Cathedral, or Duomo, with its stunning red dome designed by Brunelleschi. The Duomo was built in the 15th century and was the largest church in the world at the time.
If you can take the 463 steps, it's well worth the climb to the top of the dome, as this is the highest point in Florence with amazing views of the city.

Ponte Vecchio Bridge
Stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, the city's famous bridge adorned with jewelery shops. In 1593, Ferdinand I decreed that only goldsmiths and jewelers be allowed to have their shops on the bridge in order to improve the wellbeing of all, including their own as they walked over the bridge.
The Ponte Vecchio, or Old Bridge, was the only bridge across the Arno in Florence until 1218.
The Uffizi
The most famous gallery in Florence The Uffizi is home to fantastic works of art by Botticelli, including The Birth of Venus. There are so many examples of beautiful art to discover, but the architecture of the building is worth the trip alone, designed by Italian artist Giorgio Vasari.
Book in advance or get there early as the gallery welcomes up to an average of 10,000 people a day! It's better after 4pm once large groups have left the museum.
Cappelle Medicee
The second largest dome of Florence, Cappelle Medicee is full of marble and gorgeous frescoes. Opulently decorated in marble, gold and jewels, these chapels are a celebration of one of Italy's most famous and powerful families - the Medicis.
Then make your way to the smaller chapel for some of the most beautiful statues carved by none other than Michelangelo.
